Twan Smits grew up in Steenwijk watching MotoGP on Sunday afternoons, then talked his parents into letting him race. That was the easy part. Everything since has been earned.

He started on minibikes in 2015, moved through the Molenaar NSF 100 Cup, and stepped up to the Dutch R3 Cup in 2018: bigger bikes, bigger circuits. Evert Blom of Apreco spotted something in him early and became his mentor, a relationship that shaped the next chapter of his career.

Euro Moto Supersport 300 followed, pandemic delays included, but the results were real: podiums at home and a shot at the World Supersport 300 stage. The jump to Supersport 600 brought eight podiums in a debut season, then a title fight in 2023 that ended in the stewards' office rather than on the podium, a hard way to close out a breakout year.

2024 opened rough, crashes and a slow start, but the season turned, and the potential was hard to miss. Yamaha Germany noticed. An offer followed: Euro Moto Superbike, backed by Yamaha, Apreco, and Ten Kate Racing Products, with a place in Yamaha's BLU CRU program.

For 2025 and into 2026, Twan is racing Euro Moto Superbike and the FIM Endurance World Championship with Motobox Kremer, the biggest stage of his career so far, and just the start.
